London, UK – 28 October 2024 – The innovative music game studio known as Maintain Altitude has made headlines today by successfully securing $500,000 (£380K) in a pre-seed funding round. This significant investment was led by Hiro Capital, with additional backing from angel investors who have previously supported popular games such as Candy Crush and Guitar Hero. The financial boost is expected to fuel the studio's ambitious plans in the realm of music entertainment, as Maintain Altitude strives to revolutionize how players experience music through gaming.
Founded in 2022 by music industry veteran Oliver “Ollywood” Moira and games industry expert Simon Prytherch, Maintain Altitude aims to bridge the gap between music and gaming with its upcoming release, Beat Hunter.
Often described as “musical Uno,” this mobile game is currently in development and is set to launch in select markets by 2025, with a full global release anticipated in 2026. Oliver Moira, who serves as the Founder and CEO, brings two decades of experience in the music industry, having co-founded Black Butter Records, while Simon Prytherch, the CTO, contributes thirty years of experience in gaming, having co-founded several successful gaming ventures.
Oliver Moira expressed his excitement regarding the funding, stating, “This investment marks a significant milestone for Maintain Altitude. We’re poised to push the boundaries of music gaming and deliver experiences that resonate with players worldwide. Our aim is aligned with music itself, to unite and delight.” Spike Laurie, a Partner at Hiro Capital, emphasized the unique potential of combining music with mobile gaming, noting that Moira's visionary approach to this crossover has the potential to create a profoundly entertaining experience. The studio plans to expand its team and collaborate with key rights holders in the music industry, ensuring that Beat Hunter not only entertains but also brings a fresh and resonant take on musical gaming.
