Gaia Learning, an innovative online learning provider, has recently achieved a significant milestone by securing a remarkable £550K in venture capital funding—the largest investment in its history. This financial boost will facilitate the organization's mission to support an increasingly greater number of neurodivergent children throughout the UK. Based in the North West, Gaia Learning has kicked off its latest academic year by delivering live, interactive online learning classes specifically designed for neurodivergent children aged between 8 and 16, who are diagnosed with ADHD and autism. The burgeoning interest from both international and UK-based inquiries is reaching unprecedented levels, and with this new influx of investment, the company is poised to continue its growth trajectory on both national and international stages.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Kate Longworth, the CEO of Gaia Learning, stated, “We’re so pleased to have our new investment partners on board, recognizing the potential in all we do at Gaia Learning to assist school partners, learners, and their families.
.” Over the course of this academic year, the organization has successfully tripled its number of learners, expanded its workforce to 12 staff members, and has witnessed a pronounced demand from children who find themselves struggling within traditional mainstream education settings. In a world that increasingly calls for flexibility, schools require scalable digital solutions that can accommodate the unique needs of each neurodiverse child more than ever.
Since its inception in 2019, Gaia Learning has transitioned from a modest, specialized tuition initiative to becoming an award-winning Cambridge Registered International School Online. The organization made headlines this year by being the first online education provider to receive the ADHD Friendly School award from the ADHD Foundation. The recent investment round was led by Nesta Impact Investments, with additional support from Manchester-based GC Angels. Lisa Barclay, Executive Director of Investments at Nesta, highlighted the pressing need for solutions aimed at bridging the gap in educational outcomes for students with special educational needs. The statistics speak volumes, as students with an Education Health and Care Plan typically achieve GCSE results that are eight times poorer than the average. Hence, Gaia Learning’s commitment to empower children in this demographic positions it as a compelling player in the landscape of educational innovation.
