Go Eve Raises £3 Million for Innovative EV Charging
Electric vehicle charging start-up Go Eve has recently raised £3 million in its first funding round, valuing the business at £12.6 million. The company's innovative "DockChain" technology aims to make high-power DC charging cost-competitive with lower-power AC charging options. By extending the reach of single rapid chargers to service multiple parking spaces, DockChain eliminates the downtime experienced by current EV charging technology. Go Eve's intelligent software manages a virtual queue, efficiently distributing power to each connected EV.
Notable investors, including The Pearl Family Office, Carter Gem, Automotive Ventures Inc, Sustainable Engineering Investor Kero Development Partners, and Cur8 Capital, have recognized the commercialization potential of Go Eve's technology and participated in its funding round. The company plans to use the funds to secure its supply chains, scale production, and install the DockChain system at various sites throughout the summer. Their goal is to ensure volume availability in Europe and the US by the end of the year.
Go Eve's CEO, Hugh Sheehy, believes that their technology has the power to transform EV charging. With a focus on faster, lower-cost, and widely available charging, the company aims to efficiently utilize available grid capacity. Sheehy states, "We see a future with rapid charging in every space." Led by Professor Robert Shorten and entrepreneurs Hugh Sheehy and John Goodbody, the team behind Go Eve honed their DockChain technology at renowned institutions such as Imperial College and University College Dublin. Their successful pilot installation at the Imperial campus in November 2022 solidified the technology's potential and contributed to the company's strong performance in their first funding round.
