UK-based NK:IO secures funding to advance cancer cell therapy
NK:IO, a London, UK-based company, is making breakthroughs in the field of natural killer (NK) cell biology to develop off-the-shelf cell therapies that specifically target solid tumors. Recently, the company secured £1.2M in funding, bringing the total amount raised to $5.1M. Founded in December 2020 by Hugh J M Brady, Matt Fuchter, and Mike Romanos, NK:IO has developed a platform that activates blood stem cell progenitors to produce NK cells with exceptional tumor-killing potency and high cell production yield.
This groundbreaking technology has the potential to revolutionize cancer cell therapy. Furthermore, the platform allows for efficient engineering of progenitor cells, which enables the production of next-generation NK cells with even greater potency for targeting difficult-to-treat tumor subtypes.
