Oort Energy, a London-based hydrogen electrolyser developer, has recently secured £5M in Seed funding in a round led by Energy Revolution Ventures (ERV) and participated by TRIREC. With the funding, the company aims to build its team, develop an electrolyser stack manufacturing facility and deploy a compliant demonstrator that produces green hydrogen from renewable energy.
The company is led by CEO Nick van Dijk and develops hydrogen electrolyser by utilizing a patented polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser technology.
This technology enables Oort Energy to drive down the production costs of green hydrogen, which they aim to produce from water and renewable electricity, ensuring a clean energy supply.
Oort Energy has already achieved the design of a 250kW stack platform and is now preparing for mass manufacturing. The company is also on schedule to deliver its first fully compliant containerised electrolyser solution, with commissioning expected in Q3 2023. Oort Energy’s goal is to contribute to the global efforts towards a sustainable and renewable energy supply, which is becoming more vital in the face of climate change and the depletion of non-renewable energy sources.
