Unlocking Global Communication: Palabra AI Secures $8.4 Million in Pre-Seed Funding
In a bold move to revolutionize communication, Palabra AI has successfully raised $8.4 million (£6.2 million) in a pre-seed funding round, spearheaded by the venture firm Seven Seven Six. This groundbreaking investment aims to scale Palabra's real-time speech-to-speech translation engine, addressing the critical problem of language barriers in today's global economy. With the backing of esteemed investors such as Creator Ventures and prominent angel investors including Max Mullen of Instacart and Anne Lee Skates, formerly of Andreessen Horowitz, Palabra is poised to make significant strides in enhancing cross-cultural communication.
Palabra’s cutting-edge technology enables real-time translation with latency under 800 milliseconds, maintaining both the meaning and the speaker's vocal identity.
By utilizing a unique predictive-context engine, Palabra can initiate translation mid-sentence, thus preserving the natural flow of conversation. This timely response is crucial, especially in high-pressure environments like global live streams and large-scale virtual conferences. “Every year, language barriers cost the global economy more than $1.5 trillion in lost productivity,” says Artem Kukharenko, Co-founder and CEO of Palabra AI. “Our mission is to remove language as a barrier to connection, collaboration, and participation.”
With the new funding, Palabra plans to expand its engineering and go-to-market teams across Europe and North America, capitalizing on the surging demand for seamless multilingual communication. Currently supporting 30 languages and aiming to increase this number to 100 by 2025, Palabra's API is set to empower developers to integrate its state-of-the-art voice translation technology into their applications. The platform ensures both privacy and a high-fidelity translation experience, making it the go-to choice for companies seeking to enhance their global reach. As it stands, Palabra has already recorded over 100,000 live minutes of translation—underscoring its potential to transform the way we communicate globally.
