TORTUS, a generative AI startup based in London, has secured £3.3 million ($4.2 million) in seed funding led by Khosla Ventures. The company's flagship product, O.S.L.E.R., aims to assist clinicians by automating time-consuming administrative tasks, allowing them to focus more on patient care. O.S.L.E.R. listens to the conversations between clinicians and patients, processing and inputting data into electronic health records, and seamlessly interacting with any EHR system. TORTUS has also partnered with Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for a research study evaluating the use of its technology in clinical settings. The company has become the first of its kind to achieve compliance under the NHS DTAC Standard.
The healthcare system is placing immense pressure on healthcare professionals, with the NHS facing staffing shortages and growing demand.
The burden of administrative tasks is one of the greatest pressures reported by clinicians. TORTUS's platform, O.S.L.E.R., aims to alleviate this burden by automating clinical documentation processes. By removing the need for manual data entry, clinicians have more time to devote to patient care. O.S.L.E.R. actively listens to patient consultations, processes doctors' notes in real-time, and inputs data into the patient's EHR. The company's goal is to deliver an immediate improvement in clinician and patient engagement.
The seed funding will be used to further develop and expand the capabilities of the O.S.L.E.R. platform. TORTUS plans to add features such as prescription ordering and coding to the system, providing even more support to clinicians. The company also aims to expand into additional hospitals and primary care organizations. Additionally, TORTUS has launched a research study with GOSH to evaluate its technology's impact on patient experience and clinical workload. The company is also exploring partnerships with healthcare organizations in the UK, Canada, and the United States.
