Volt, a London-based company, which was founded in 2019, has recently announced that it has raised $60 million in Series B funding. The round was led by IVP with participation from other investors such as CommerzVentures, EQT Ventures, Augmentum Fintech PLC and Fuel Ventures. The purpose of this investment is to accelerate the expansion of Volt's global infrastructure for real-time payments into new international markets like APAC and the Americas. In addition, Volt also aims to support the development of their products in existing markets across Europe, the UK and Brazil.
The founder and CEO of Volt, Tom Greenwood, has been leading the company to build infrastructure for global instant payments.
Presently, their open payments gateway provides a secure way for merchants and PSPs to process transactions between accounts that are held in more than 5,000 banks in the UK, EU and Brazil. Volt's aggregation model enables an open payment reach, which optimizes the speed, security and resilience of providing transactions. Furthermore, Volt is already available across the UK, Europe and Brazil, however, the company is planning to bring its real-time payments technology to the APAC region, with an entry into the Australian market planned for later in 2023. Additionally, Volt has its sights set on entering the US market as well.
It is worth noting that this investment is not not the only achievement that Volt has attained recently. Volt has also secured other partnerships such as a global partnership for real-time payments with the world's largest merchant acquirer, Worldpay from FIS. Another partnership is with Shopify, where Volt became the commerce platform's first open banking provider. The cofounder and CEO of IVP, Todd Chaffee, stated that they are excited to partner with Volt as they bring real-time payments solutions to a broad range of customers globally.
