Angel Investor
Amit Gudka is an angel investor and the founder/CEO of Field, a battery energy storage company.
As an angel investor, Amit Gudka invested in the energy and greentech startup Supercritical with Alice Bentinck.
Supercritical is a carbon removal marketplace that focuses primarily on serving tech companies aiming to achieve "net zero" carbon emissions.
Supercritical operates by aggregating business demand for advanced carbon removal technologies, providing companies with access to innovative solutions that extend beyond traditional methods like tree planting.
The marketplace enables companies to purchase "fully-vetted and qualified" carbon removal credits in accordance with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) industry standard.
Field Energy has successfully secured £100 million in new funding from DIF Capital Partners, a Dutch infrastructure investor.
The funds are earmarked for the company's European expansion plans and to accelerate the rollout of renewable energy infrastructure.
Field Energy, which already operates several battery storage sites in the UK, is expected to officially announce the fundraising in the coming weeks.
This marks Field's first funding round since last year, following a £30 million equity raise and a £47 million debt facility. The investment reflects the growing significance of battery storage companies, like Field, in contributing to global decarbonization efforts and achieving net-zero targets.
Prior to launching Field, he co-founded Bulb, a tech-led renewable energy supplier, in 2015, along with Co-Founder Hayden Wood.
Bulb was the fastest-growing energy supplier in the UK, supplying over 1.7 million households in the UK and abroad. Before venturing into the renewable energy sector, Amit Gudka worked as an energy trader at Barclays for eight years, focusing on European gas and electricity markets.
He holds a mathematics degree from the University of Cambridge and is also involved in running an independent record label in his spare time.
