David Cleevely is an angel investor based in Cambridge, in the UK.
David Cleevely CBE FREng, FIET is a distinguished entrepreneur and investor, holding chairmanship at Focal Point Positioning and the Cambridge Science Centre. He is best known as the founder and former Chairman of Analysys, a telecom consultancy firm acquired by Datatec International in 2004, and as the co-founder of Abcam, a web-based antibody company. Cleevely also co-founded 3G femto base station company, 3WayNetworks, which was sold to Airvana in 2007. He is an active investor in over 35 companies and is Chairman of four, including award-winning restaurant Bocca di Lupo and its subsidiary, Gelupo. Cleevely has been influential in the Cambridge tech scene, being a co-founder of Cambridge Wireless, Cambridge Angels, and the Cambridge Network. His governance roles have included positions at Ofcom Spectrum Advisory Board, the Ministry of Defence Board, and the Raspberry Pi Foundation. His academic pursuits include a PhD from Cambridge, and he has held an Industrial Fellowship at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory. He served as the Founding Director of the Centre for Science and Policy at Cambridge, and has been honored as a Fellow Commoner of Queens College, Cambridge and an Honorary Fellow of Trinity Hall.
