Scriptic, formerly known as ElectricNoir, is a London-based studio that specializes in developing interactive phone-first shows. Recently, the company announced that it raised $5.7 million in the second close of its Seed funding round, bringing the total amount to $8.2 million. BITKRAFT Ventures led the round, accompanied by Tower 26, the Amazon Alexa Fund, and other investors. As part of the investment, Malte Barth, Founding General Partner at BITKRAFT Ventures, will join Scriptic's board.
The funding will enable Scriptic to enhance its content pipeline and expand its team.
The company plans to onboard a community of external writers, who will utilize its AI-led creator service to build, share, and monetize their own stories. Moreover, Scriptic aims to fill new positions in tech, production, marketing, creative, and design over the next year. Since its inception, Scriptic has demonstrated its commitment to combining the talents of human writers with generative AI, allowing audiences to have greater control over the action.
Founded by Nihal Tharoor and Benedict Tatham, Scriptic has already achieved significant success. Its proprietary app, offering a range of episodic and short-form titles across various genres, has garnered 1.5 million organic installs on both Apple and Android devices. The studio's Dark Mode horror anthology, which launched in January, exemplifies the company's use of AI in content production and as a creative tool. By seamlessly integrating text, images, video, and audio, Scriptic's content presents a unique and engaging interactive experience for users.
