Natural Capital Research Limited (Natcap) recently secured $10 million in Series A funding, with notable backers such as André Hoffmann, Norinchukin Capital, Yeo Ventures, Pelican Ag, David Craig, Oxford Science Enterprises, MW&L Capital Partners, and Alea Iacta Est. This financial boost comes after the company's successful £2.5 million seed round earlier in 2023. The London-based company plans to use this funding to bolster its growth and provide support to organizations looking to better understand their nature-related risks and opportunities.
Established in 2018 by Professor Baroness Kathy Willis at the University of Oxford, along with others, Natcap is on a mission to help businesses quantify and integrate nature-related risks and opportunities into their overall business strategies.
With Sebastian Leape at the helm as CEO, the company collaborates with scientists to deliver extensive and user-friendly nature data and metrics. Through their platform, businesses are guided through the process of measuring, reporting, and acting on nature-related risks and opportunities to develop robust nature strategies.
Currently, Natcap has over 20 organizations that it supports, including collaborations with Tesco's Nature Programme and a partnership with MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings. By leveraging their expertise and resourcefulness, Natcap aims to continue playing a vital role in helping companies navigate and adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of nature-related challenges and opportunities.
