Wagestream, a London, UK-based provider of a financial benefits platform, recently announced that they have raised an additional £17.5M in funding. The funding round had participation from key investors such as British Patient Capital, Lombard Odier Investment Managers, and existing investor Northzone. With this new infusion of capital, Wagestream aims to expand its range of services and transform into a comprehensive financial platform tailored for low and middle-income workers.
At the helm of Wagestream is CEO Peter Briffett, who leads a team dedicated to offering financial benefits through their platform to over 1,000 employers across the U.
.K., Spain, and the United States. Currently, the platform serves 3 million individuals, predominantly shift and frontline workers, enabling them to access an interactive payslip, select their paydays, set aside savings directly from their pay, avail discounts on bills, and receive free debt counseling.
Looking ahead, Wagestream plans to introduce a host of new services this year, including a credit-builder card for individuals historically denied credit access, shopping discounts to help counter rising inflation effects, AI-powered financial coaching for those excluded from traditional financial advice channels, and fair loans for individuals who have been unfairly charged by conventional credit providers. Employers such as Asda, Bupa, Burger King, Pizza Express, and the NHS have already embraced the platform and are offering financial benefits to their employees through Wagestream.
