This article covers Blackwall, a cybersecurity startup, which has raised £75.1m in a series C funding round at a £1.7bn valuation. The funding will be used to expand its provider-level web traffic management platform across 12 regions worldwide and targets hosting, cloud and managed service providers and their customers.
Blackwall, a cybersecurity startup, has raised £75.1m in a series C funding round at a £1.7bn valuation. The round was led by AVP and included existing backers Dawn Capital, MMC Ventures and Tera Ventures; the company says it will use the cash to expand a provider‑level web traffic management platform across 12 regions worldwide.
As more internet traffic is generated by automated agents and distributed services, the surface for abuse and performance problems is changing. Blackwall is pitching a model that embeds traffic management and security inside hosting and cloud providers rather than sitting in front of them, a position the company argues preserves provider control and customer relationships while reducing infrastructure costs.
The hosting market the company targets is large and fragmented — Blackwall cites a £150.2bn market — and its approach aims to give smaller providers a route to bundle security and traffic products without building the underlying technology themselves. For providers and their customers, that could mean fewer DDoS incidents, lower operating costs and more predictable site performance.
Blackwall’s stack covers bot mitigation, DDoS protection, web application firewall, load balancing and server‑side encryption. It also includes tooling to manage traffic generated by agentic AI, which the company says is an increasing portion of web traffic. The platform runs inside the hosting provider’s infrastructure and filters requests at scale; Blackwall says it already processes billions of requests per day.
The company describes its product as modular: providers can enable components as customer-facing features and package them as their own services. Blackwall plans to use the new funding to add traffic security capabilities aimed specifically at hosting, cloud and managed service providers and to grow operations across North America, Europe, Asia‑Pacific and the Middle East.
The series C was led by AVP and included existing investors Dawn Capital, MMC Ventures and Tera Ventures. Tera Ventures is noted as an early backer that supported the founders during the company’s initial product development and partner wins.
In the announcement, Warda Shaheen, General Partner at AVP, said:
Blackwall has built something rare: a security company that grows with the internet itself. It is already the layer in front of millions of websites, and as more of the web's traffic comes from agents, the company in that position becomes indispensable. That's why we're leading this round.
In the announcement, Norman Fiore, General Partner at Dawn Capital, said:
A tsunami of agents will overwhelm infrastructure optimised for human traffic. Nik and Denis are already delivering to their millions of customers the infrastructure optimised for the coming agentic web, and commercial success will flow to those businesses that are retooling today.
In the announcement, Mina Samaan, General Partner, MMC Ventures, said:
We've backed Blackwall from its early days and have seen the business scale into critical infrastructure for the web. As AI changes how traffic moves across the internet, Blackwall's position at the front door of millions of websites has never been more important.
In the announcement, Stanislav Ivanov, Founding Partner, Tera Ventures, said:
Nik and Denis combine real grit, deep technical knowledge and a rare grasp of where the opportunity lies and how to capture it. Blackwall, now protecting millions of websites, is exactly the kind of born-global company Tera exists to back. We were their first believers, backing them from day one through the early years of building the product and winning its first partners and customers. This round shows we’re far from the last.
If you're researching potential backers in this space:
In the announcement, Nikita Rozenberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Blackwall, said:
The web is becoming more automated, more distributed and more complex, but the infrastructure that powers it remains highly fragmented. Our ambition is to build the traffic management ecosystem that brings those worlds together. This funding allows us to expand globally, deepen our platform and give hosting and infrastructure providers the technology they need to participate in the next generation of the web.
Rozenberg frames Blackwall’s role as enabling providers to retain control and monetise security and performance services as traffic patterns change.
The deal illustrates investor appetite for infrastructure-layer cybersecurity plays that sit alongside hosting and cloud rather than replacing them. As agentic AI alters traffic characteristics, products that distinguish legitimate automated traffic from malicious activity are becoming commercially relevant for providers that host high volumes of sites and applications.
For the European and UK markets, the funding is another sign that venture capital continues to back companies building core internet infrastructure. If Blackwall succeeds in its provider-integrated approach, it could reshape how mid-sized hosts and managed service providers compete with hyperscalers by offering built-in traffic security and monetisable features.
This raise underscores continued interest from cybersecurity investors in firms that couple network-level protection with platform economics, and it will be worth watching how the company’s regional expansion plays into European hosting and cloud services.
