New investment from Insight Partners will drive forward Sedna’s ambition to improve shipping email communications and achieve the vision of making trade go faster. Funding of $42 million will advance the development of new features and maritime partnerships in Sedna, a communication platform already in use by thousands of shipping and logistics employees worldwide. This investment comes at a critical time as the shipping industry undergoes significant changes due to the fast-evolving pandemic, geopolitical tensions, climate change, and the impact of AI.
The investment will support Sedna's plans to expand its platform and develop new solutions to advance its vision.
This includes the development and launch of new and enhanced features like AI and data science tools. Sedna also aims to establish new partnerships with other digital maritime leaders to integrate the email inbox with existing systems of record and bring important data under one roof. These product features and collaborations enabled by the increased funding will help automate processes, minimize risk, speed up decision-making, and ultimately drive commercial success in Sedna-supported maritime companies.
Sedna is a data-driven communication platform that was founded in 2017. It was launched to address the challenges present in email communication within the maritime industry, such as inbox overload, lost data, and siloed operations. Sedna aims to move the sector away from traditional methods of communication and provide a multipurpose workspace fit for the maritime supply chain. Leading shipping and logistics companies, including Bunge, FedNav, Glencore, Oldendorff, NORDEN, OMV, Stena Bulk, and MOL Chemical Tankers, are already using Sedna to share and action key data to advance the flow of goods around the world.
