Stride, a healthtech startup, has raised £4.6 million in a seed funding round to speed up development of a diagnostics-driven preventative health membership and to fund an international launch later this year. The capital will be used to scale Stride’s testing-led membership—combining DNA, blood and gut data—with personalised insights and AI-driven analysis as it moves from a UK pilot to wider markets.
Preventative health remains a growing priority for consumers and investors because it shifts care earlier, when interventions tend to be cheaper and more effective. Lifestyle-related conditions place a significant financial burden on the NHS, and companies that can translate complex biological data into usable, personalised actions aim to reduce that burden while creating new consumer healthcare services. A successful consumer product in this area could influence how health data is collected, interpreted and acted upon at scale.
Stride’s membership model centres on multiomic testing across DNA, blood and gut markers, combined with an app that delivers longitudinal insights and recommendations. The company says this lets members track risk factors and behaviour change over time rather than waiting for illness to appear.
Stride is also working on two Innovate UK-funded projects: one that applies a multiomic approach to estimating biological age, and another to build an AI “health copilot” that integrates multiple data sources to produce personalised insights. The startup is exploring partnerships in the premium wellness market—examples include Triple Bond at The Botree Hotel and LongLane, an alcohol-free biohacking destination where Stride testing is used to tailor member experiences.
The seed round was led by Arāya Ventures and included Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures, Better Ventures, Innovate UK and an a16z Scout Fund investor, along with a group of unnamed angel investors.
Arāya Ventures is a healthcare-focused investor; Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures brings institutional sustainability capital; Better Ventures focuses on early-stage health and consumer bets; Innovate UK provides public innovation grants and has already funded two of Stride’s projects. The a16z Scout Fund investor signals continued interest from US-based venture networks in UK consumer health plays.
In the announcement, Rupa Popat, Founder and Managing Partner at Arāya Ventures, said:
Stride sits at the intersection of some of the most important shifts in healthcare: prevention, personalisation and the consumerisation of health. We believe the opportunity to help people understand and act on their health data earlier is enormous and look forward to being on the journey with Andrew and the team.

In the announcement, Andrew Steele, Founder at Stride, said:
For most of my life, I’ve been obsessed with understanding what makes people perform at their best. Elite athletes have long understood the value of testing, tracking and continually adapting. But that approach shouldn’t be reserved for people competing at the highest level. We’re seeing a cultural shift towards prevention, with people taking much more ownership of their health and wanting to understand what is happening inside their bodies. Stride is being built to give millions of people the tools to do exactly that, helping them move from simply being ‘normal’ to becoming their healthiest, highest-performing selves.
In the announcement, Andrew Steele, Founder at Stride, said:
Healthcare has traditionally been built around treating problems once they appear. We want to help shift that mindset towards prevention and tackle the bigger opportunity: preventing multiple diseases in the first place by changing everyday health behaviours earlier and at scale. Our mission is to become the go-to home for taking a proactive, preventative approach to life - and, ultimately, help reduce the burden of preventable disease on health systems like the NHS.
Steele’s background is relevant here: he competed for Team GB as a 400m runner and co-founded DNAfit, which later became part of Prenetics. That experience in performance testing and consumer genetics informs Stride’s focus on turning test data into actionable behaviour change.
Stride’s raise sits within a wider trend of consumer-facing healthtech moving from single-point testing to ongoing, data-driven memberships. Public support from Innovate UK alongside institutional and venture investors suggests a mix of commercial and policy interest in preventative approaches that could ease pressure on health services.
If Stride can combine robust diagnostics with clear, evidence-based behaviour guidance and a compelling consumer product, it will join a small but growing group of companies trying to make prevention part of everyday life. Its planned international launch will be a useful test of whether UK-built preventative health products can scale beyond domestic markets and attract cross-border consumer demand in Europe and beyond.
