Tortus, a London-based generative AI startup, has recently secured £3.3M in Seed funding. Khosla Ventures led the round, with participation from Entrepreneur First, former NHS Chair Lord David Prior, and Eric Jang, VP of AI at 1X Technologies, who also joined as Chief Scientific Advisor. The company plans to use the funds to further develop its O.S.L.E.R. agent, an assistant designed for doctors, and expand its capabilities to include tasks such as prescription orders and diagnoses. Additionally, Tortus aims to expand its presence in hospitals and primary care organizations, with plans to go live in several primary care sites in February 2024.
CEO Dr Dom Pimenta leads Tortus, which aims to support clinicians by automating time-consuming tasks and reducing burnout and errors in healthcare.
Their generative AI platform, O.S.L.E.R., streamlines the clinical documentation process by interactively listening to clinician-patient conversations and seamlessly integrating with electronic health records systems. It automates tasks like pre-chart summaries, visit notes, lab requests, and coding, allowing clinicians to focus more on patient care. Pimenta emphasized that O.S.L.E.R. was created to improve the engagement between clinicians and patients, as it eliminates the need for excessive keyboard work and administrative duties.
This recent funding round marks an important milestone for Tortus, enabling the company to further enhance its AI assistant for doctors and continue its mission of revolutionizing healthcare. With the support of investors like Khosla Ventures, Entrepreneur First, Lord David Prior, and Eric Jang, Tortus is well-positioned to expand its capabilities and reach more healthcare facilities. By automating time-consuming tasks and improving the clinician-patient relationship, Tortus aims to make a significant impact in the healthcare industry and enhance overall patient care.
