This article covers IMMIX, a London-based fintech startup, which has raised £2.6m in a seed funding round to build infrastructure for cheaper and simpler stablecoin exchanges across currencies beyond the US dollar. The funding aims to accelerate development of an AI pricing engine, expand liquidity and grow partner distribution to support payment service providers, money transfer operators and other platforms handling recurring cross-border payments.
IMMIX, a London-based fintech startup, has raised £2.6m in a seed funding round from Crane Venture Partners, BTSE and Portfolio Ventures to build infrastructure that makes it cheaper and simpler for payment firms to exchange stablecoins across currencies beyond the US dollar. The raise aims to accelerate development of IMMIX’s AI pricing engine, expand liquidity and grow its partner distribution network — a niche that matters to firms handling recurring cross-border payments.
Most stablecoin conversion infrastructure is optimised around the US dollar. Outside the dollar, fewer counterparties mean a single stablecoin conversion can break into multiple foreign-exchange trades, each adding cost and operational friction. Those costs cut into margins for payment service providers, money transfer operators and other platforms that need predictable cross-currency flows.
IMMIX says its systems have processed more than $25 billion in customer trading volume since 2024, evidence the problem exists at scale and that institutional users are already routing flows through the firm. The new funding should allow IMMIX to widen currency coverage and reduce the effective cost of converting stablecoins for partners.
IMMIX combines an AI-powered pricing engine with institutional liquidity infrastructure to price and execute stablecoin conversions, with particular focus on markets beyond the US dollar. Deep-learning models are used to forecast market conditions across thousands of instruments, and the platform can be accessed via request-for-quote, streamed prices over an API or through public venues including centralised and decentralised exchanges.
Partners negotiate currency coverage, trade sizes and settlement terms and IMMIX is developing distribution through third-party platforms. The company targets payment service providers, money transfer operators, stablecoin issuers, trading venues and other platforms that need reliable, on‑demand conversions between stablecoins and fiat currencies.
IMMIX raised £2.6m in a seed funding round led by Crane Venture Partners, with participation from BTSE and Portfolio Ventures. The investors are backing development of IMMIX’s stablecoin FX infrastructure and its expansion into less-liquid currency pairs.
In the announcement, Krishna Visvanathan, Co-founder and Partner at Crane Venture Partners, said:
Stablecoins have the potential to fundamentally change how money moves around the world, but much of the infrastructure needed to make that possible still has to be built. Andrew and David saw an important problem early, particularly beyond the dollar, and bring a unique combination of deep technical expertise and real-world trading experience to solve it. This is exactly the kind of foundational technology we love to back at Crane.
In the announcement, Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer of BTSE, said:
The next wave of stablecoin growth hinges on facilitating flows between FX and crypto markets at scale. IMMIX is building the high-performance trading infrastructure that makes this possible—combining AI-driven pricing with institutional-grade execution. We're a strong believer in this mission as this is what the industry needs right now.
If you're researching potential backers in this space:
IMMIX was founded by Andrew Mann and David Twomey, both with PhDs from UCL’s Computer Science department and quantitative experience at Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan and Virtu Financial. They bring expertise in building high-frequency trading systems for institutional clients, which the company says underpins its approach to latency-sensitive pricing and execution.
In the announcement, Andrew Mann, Co-founder at IMMIX, said:
Payment businesses need certainty about what their customers will receive and reliable access to currency conversion whenever money needs to move. We’re combining years of experience building high-frequency trading systems for institutional clients with AI pricing to reduce the cost and complexity of stablecoin FX, especially beyond the dollar.
The deal reflects growing interest from UK fintech investors in infrastructure that links FX and crypto markets, particularly where existing liquidity is fragmented. As stablecoins gain traction for cross-border payments, more firms will demand predictable rails for converting between on-chain assets and local currencies.
For the UK and wider European ecosystem, IMMIX’s funding is another signal that capital is moving into the plumbing required to scale crypto-native payments in regulated markets. If the company can lower conversion costs and operational complexity, it could make stablecoin-based transfers more viable for mainstream payment flows.
