In the ever-evolving world of urban transportation, innovation is key—and Flit is rewriting the rulebook. Based in Cambridge, UK, this groundbreaking engineering company specializes in folding electric bikes designed specifically for urban commuters. The startup recently secured an impressive £1.2 million in funding, an investment that signals strong investor confidence in Flit’s vision for future mobility.
Flit’s latest round of backers includes renowned organizations such as ACF Investors, Cambridge Angels, and notable industry figure Tony Purnell, the former Head of Technical Development at British Cycling. This infusion of capital will enable Flit to ramp up production of its innovative FLIT M2 model at its Cambridge facility, as the company gears up to meet the increasing demand from urban consumers who prioritize both convenience and sustainability in their transportation choices.
Founded in 2016 by Dave Henderson and Alex Murray, Flit has quickly established itself as a leader in the e-bike market by offering products that are not only lighter and more compact than traditional e-bikes but also embedded with advanced technology. One of the standout features of the FLIT M2 is its proprietary no-weld adhesive bonding technique, a method typically reserved for high-end aerospace and automotive engineering. This current funding also builds upon an earlier Innovate UK grant secured in 2023, propelling Flit closer to its goal of delivering the FLIT M2 to UK customers, which is set to commence in October 2024.
