This article covers Pure Capture Innovations, a greentech startup, completing a pre-seed funding round that raised £530k. The funding will support development and validation of carbon-based adsorbents aimed at removing PFAS and other persistent micropollutants from water and enable retrofit-compatible solutions for water utilities and industrial operators.
Pure Capture Innovations Ltd, a greentech startup, has completed a pre-seed funding round, raising £530,000 in a pre-seed funding round that brings its total financing to £530,000. The raise combines equity investment from SFC Capital, Carbon13, the British Business Bank and angel investors with non-dilutive support from two Innovate UK grants. The money will be used to develop and validate carbon-based adsorbents aimed at removing PFAS and other persistent micropollutants from water while remaining compatible with existing treatment systems.
PFAS and other contaminants of emerging concern are an increasing focus for water utilities, regulators and industrial users because they persist in the environment and are difficult to remove with conventional methods. A solution that can be retrofitted into current treatment processes without major infrastructure changes would be commercially attractive to water companies and industrial operators. Pure Capture’s funding round signals investor interest in practical, near-term greentech approaches to water quality challenges in the UK and beyond.
Pure Capture is developing sustainable, carbon-based adsorbents that target PFAS, persistent micropollutants and similar contaminants. The company says the materials are engineered to be compatible with existing water treatment infrastructure, reducing the need for large-scale process redesign by utilities or industrial users.
From its Materials Research Centre, the team is also developing a rapid adsorbent assessment and PFAS water testing service intended to speed validation and deployment. The approach combines materials science with on-site testing capabilities to demonstrate performance across different water chemistries and operational settings.
The pre-seed round includes equity backing from SFC Capital, Carbon13, the British Business Bank and a group of angel investors. In addition, Pure Capture has received non-dilutive funding from two Innovate UK grants, which the company says have supported early development and de-risking.
SFC Capital highlighted engagement from the UK water industry and the experience of Pure Capture’s founding team as reasons for participating in the round. The mix of institutional, corporate-focused and angel funding, together with grant support, is intended to fund technical validation and initial commercial engagement.
In the announcement, Adam Beveridge, Principal at SFC Capital, said:
Pure Capture Innovations is addressing an increasingly important challenge in water treatment with a compelling combination of advanced materials science, sustainability and commercial potential. We were particularly impressed by the potential for its technology to deliver significantly improved PFAS removal while working with existing water treatment infrastructure. With strong engagement from the UK water industry and an experienced founding team, we're delighted to support Pure Capture as it moves towards commercialisation.

In the announcement, Mark Wild, Co-founder & CEO at Pure Capture Innovations, said:
This funding marks an important milestone for Pure Capture Innovations. It will help us accelerate the development and validation of our technology as we work towards more sustainable and effective solutions for contamination-free water around the world.
The deal comes as UK and European attention on persistent contaminants grows and public and private funders ramp up support for greentech and water-tech innovation. Public grant programmes such as Innovate UK are often used to derisk core technology work ahead of commercial investment, and this round follows that model by combining grants with private capital.
Pure Capture’s progress will be one to watch for utilities and industrial operators seeking retrofit-friendly options for PFAS removal, and the funding underscores continued investor appetite for applied greentech that addresses regulatory and operational pressures across the UK and Europe.
